What spectrophotometers are compatible?
PressView version 2 is compatible with the X-Rite Eye One spectrophotometers, Techkon SpectroDens, Techkon spectroDrive, Techkon RS800. PressView 3 also supports the X-Rite IntelliTrax, X-Rite 500-series and Techkon SpectroJet. Please take a look at our website on a regular basis, since more and more devices will become compatible with PressView.
Can I use PressView on Mac and PC?
The PressView client runs on standard Windows XP based PC's (or Intel based Mac's running Windows) with .Net and Adobe's Flash player. The graphical interface of PressView is completely built with Adobe's Flash technology, for which you can download a free player from Adobe's website. The PressView server aplication is cross platform suite, that runs on MacOSX, Windows or Linux. A standard local server configuration runs Ruby on Rails, Mongrel webservice and SQLite Database. Network servers normally run Linux, Apache 2 webserver, Ruby on Rails and MySQL 5.
What are the system requirements for PressView?
PressView is tested on several default PC configurations. A plain desktop PC or Notebook is more than enough to run the PressView client and Server on a single PC. When you use PressView in a large environment, it is advised to adapt your (dedicated) server hardware to the size of your company.
The following hardware is recommended:
- Windows XP SP2.
- Any processor using dual core technology or better.
- 2 Gb of memory.
- 500 Mb of free hard disk space during installation. 1 to 10 Gb of free space is recommended depending on usage.
- Free USB ports depending on the measuring device that is used.
- Internet connection.
- A full color display with at least a 1024x768 resolution.
Which color bar can I use within PressView?
PressView is compatible with most industry colorbars (i.e. Fogra Mediawedge and alike) and procescontrol strips that are used to measure individual inkzones.
Can PressView drive my printing machine?
No, PressView has not been developed to control your printing press. If you use our inkzone option, PressView will show you exactly where and what corrections should applied to match the chosen standard.
Is it only suited for ISO 12647-2?
No, PressView is very flexible. Standard installations are ISO 12647-2 compatible by default. Standard references like ISONewspaper, GraCol and Brunner EuroCoated are also installed during installation.
If you need to work with your own custom standard, we can convert any ICC profile to a custom PressView reference. PressView is the standardisation tool for your in-house standards as well!
What type of Spot color libraries can you handle?
PressView can import spot color libraries in either CGATS, CSV and CxF format.
Can I create PDF reports directly from the application?
PressView does not have the ability to create PDF reports directly. However, a good solution - one that we use our selves - is to print the report to a so called 'pdf printer'. The pdf printer driver will generate the pdf for you and save it to your harddisk automatically. There are several great solutions out on the net, including some great freeware solutions!
Can I use PressView to calculate CTP compensation on existing curves?
Yes, you can. The PressView report shows all information you need to alter your CTP curves: digital value, target value, printed value, CTP curve (based on a lineair curve) and correction. the correction values can also be used to alter your exisiting curve.
