The latest version of PressView is version 2.2 which can be downloaded from the download section. Information on upgrading to PressView version 3 will follow. Please contact us if you need information.
The latest installer can be used both to install a new copy of PressView as well as to upgrade an existing version. Please see below for some additional notes to keep in mind when upgrading.
Notes when upgrading to a newer version of PressView
- An update can be performed by installing a newer version of PressView directly over an older version (without uninstalling the old version first).
- When performing an upgrade, the installer will upgrade both the PressView program as well as the current database. During the process the installer will also make a backup of the database before performing any operations. Nevertheless it is advisable to make a backup before starting the upgrade process. A backup can be made by simply copying the database to a secure location prior to starting the update. The database itself can be found under
(PressView_Installation_Directory)\server\server\db\pressview_production.db
Where the (PressView_Installation_Directory) is usually located under c:\program files\PressView II - Depending on the amount of data in the database, it can take quite a long time for the installer to complete the process of updating the database. During this process the installer might sometimes seem to hang, but it will continue working in the background.
- Trending is a new feature in PressView version 2.2. Because of this, jobs created in previous versions of PressView will not yet contain any trending information and thus no trending information will be visible for these jobs in the trending screen. In these cases the trending information can be generated by using the "reset" button in the trending screen. When the reset button is pressed, PressView will take all measurements in the job and recalculate their trending information.
- Starting with PressView version 2.2, there is a new client configuration utility included which will be added to the start menu during the install process. Existing users might want to use this utility to review their client settings after an upgrade.
